Last month the Honor 9X was released for the European market. This new midrange smartphone comes with impressive specs, including a 48 megapixel triple camera and a 6.59-inch FullView display. Interestingly enough, this Honor smartphone also features a 16 megapixel pop-up selfie camera and a powerful 4,000 mAh battery. Perhaps the most remarkable about this device is the price as the Honor 9X retails at just € 249.
Honor 9X smartphone with pop-up camera
The Honor 9X sports a 6.59’’ Full HD+ screen with LCD technology. The screen is said to occupy 91% of the front body with no notch thanks to a 16MP motorized pop-up camera. The front facing camera only goes up when you activate the selfie mode. At the back, the 9X looks like any other Honor smartphone with a glass like design, with an pixel “X” shape appearing with the different lights.
It is also the first Honor X smartphone with a triple camera. The main camera is a 48 megapixel camera with a Sony CMOS image sensor. The second camera has a 120° field of view ultra-wide lens with an 8 megapixel resolution sensor and the third lens is a 2 megapixel depth of field camera used in wide aperture and portrait mode.
The first sample shots taken with the Honor 9X show an impressive image quality. Night photography has also been improved significantly. AI stabilization combines several pictures with different exposure levels to bring more clarity to the picture, without having to use a tripod.
The Android phone is powered by the octa-core Kirin 710F chipset with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage memory. The Honor 9X also features GPU Turbo 3.0 software optimizations for better gaming performance. The battery capacity has been increased to 4000 mAh and now with a USB Type-C charging port (10W charging speed).
The 9X runs on EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 and is compatible with all Google Play Services. Storage has been increased to 128GB with UFS 2.1 ultra-fast memory. You can also use 2 SIM card or add another memory extension with up to 512GB microSD card.
At this price range, the Samsung Galaxy A50 will be the main competitor. The Honor 9X comes with a bigger display and a pop-up camera, instead of a punch-hole camera. Both phones feature a triple camera, but it seems the Honor 9X delivers a better overall image quality. Visit the Honor website for more information.
