At the end of November, LetsGoDigital reported on a remarkable trademark from Samsung Electronics. The Korean company filed a trademark in the United Kingdom for the name Samsung Rize, which was categorized as an smartphone. We can now report that Samsung has requested three more brand names for this new smartphone series.

On 6 December 2018 Samsung Electronics filed three trademark applications in the UK with the Intellectual Property Office for the names Samsung Rize10, Samsung Rize20 and Samsung Rize30.

All three trademarks are categorized as a ‘smartphone’. The trademark applications have been filed by law firm Fieldfisher LLP from London, who has acted on behalf of Samsung Electronics more often in the past.

A day earlier almost the same trademarks were requested in Mexico at the Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial. However, here the name ‘Samsung’ was omitted. In other words, the names Rize10, Rize20 and Rize30 were filed.

For the moment it is yet unknown what kind of smartphone series this will be. At the end of November, the idea arose that Samsung Rize could be the upcoming foldable smartphone from Samsung. A few days later however, the company also registered the name Samsung Galaxy Fold, which seems a more plausible name.

It may be possible that the name Rize is meant for the new Galaxy S10 series. After all, there are three S10 smartphone models expected at the end of February 2019. Earlier this year, there were rumors that the S10 series might be launched under a different name, just like Apple did with their iPhone X last year.

The numbers will be placed directly after the word ‘Rize’, just like Samsung does with its current Note series. The latest device in this series is called the Galaxy Note9. However, it is remarkable that the word ‘Galaxy’ is not included in the model name. Currently all Samsung smartphones are Galaxy-branded devices. We will keep you updated as soon as there are any further developments.
